Source OS ("Source," "we") is a software platform that helps barbershops and similar businesses manage bookings, walk-in queues, clients, communications, and reviews, and helps clients discover shops and book appointments. This notice explains what information we collect and how we use it.
When a shop signs up, we collect account and profile details such as name, email, business name, phone, shop address, hours, services, barber profiles, and branding, along with authentication identifiers from our sign-in provider.
When a client books or checks in, we collect the details they provide — typically a first and last name and a phone number and/or email — plus the appointment or queue details. A booking link may be stored on the client's device so they can return to their visit.
We process appointment, walk-in queue, and visit-lifecycle records (times, services, assigned barber, status, and related events) so shops can run their schedule and clients can track their visit.
We store messages between a client and a shop, notification records, and consent preferences, including any opt-in or opt-out you set. We record whether you have consented to transactional or marketing messages.
SMS and text notifications are sent only to clients who opt in — during online booking or at an in-shop check-in kiosk, by checking an unchecked box agreeing to receive appointment and wait-time text updates from that shop via Source OS, or by texting START to a shop's number. A separate, optional checkbox covers promotional messages. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of booking or of any purchase.
Message frequency varies and depends on your activity with a shop — for example, a confirmation when you book, an alert when you are next in line, and a reminder before your appointment. Message and data rates may apply.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, excluding aggregators and providers of the text message services necessary to deliver the messages themselves.
We do not sell your mobile phone number. Mobile information is used only to deliver the messages you opted in to and to maintain your consent records.
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. After you send STOP, you will receive one final message confirming your opt-out. Reply START to re-subscribe. Reply HELP or contact support@source-os.net for help. SMS terms are described in our Terms of Service.
If you submit a review, we store the rating and any text. Reviews are moderated by the shop or Source before they are shown publicly.
Source OS does not currently process client payments through the platform. Shop subscription billing is handled by a third-party payment processor (for example, Stripe); we receive limited billing metadata, not full card numbers.
Shops that are live may appear in a public directory. We may enrich a shop's public listing with third-party data such as a public rating and location from a maps provider. This enrichment is off by default and uses only public business information.
We use essential cookies and local storage for sign-in sessions, device and kiosk setup, and to remember a client's booking link. We do not use these for cross-site advertising.
We share data only with vendors that help us run the service — for example hosting and database, our sign-in provider, email delivery, text-message delivery, and, when enabled, a payment processor and a maps provider. They may process data only on our behalf. As stated above, no mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
We keep data for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal and operational needs. Soft-deleted or cancelled records may be retained for history; you can request deletion.
We use reasonable safeguards, including hashed and secret-protected access tokens and role-based access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or opt out of certain processing of your personal information. To exercise any of these, submit a request in the Source OS data and privacy center. We may need to verify your identity first. Marketing emails, if any are ever sent, will include an unsubscribe option.
Source OS is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
